Verona is famous all over the world as a city of lovers. It is here that Shakespeare set the romantic tragedy of the two young lovers Romeo Montecchi and Giulietta Capuleti.
The story takes place right in the city of Verona and even today you can visit the building with the famous balcony from which Juliet looked out to see her beloved Romeo.
The medieval palace is located in Via Cappello 23 and since 1938 is a museum, visited every year by over a million people. Outside, in the courtyard, since 1972 there is the bronze statue of the Veronese sculptor Nereo Costantini depicting Juliet "consumed" by the passion of many visitors who, as a gesture of luck, touch the right breast of Juliet. Since 2014 a new version of the statue has been made and the original is visible inside the museum.
For the joy of all lovers, Verona in love will also be held in Verona this year from 11 to 14 February 2019, an event entirely dedicated to love.
Scheduled events related to the theme of love: guided tours, theatrical and musical performances, treasure hunts and markets of sweets and typical products, traditional and local as well as other initiatives in the historic center.
On the same days, the awaited return of Schermi d'Amore, a festival that celebrated international romantic cinema for fifteen years.
